A Clear Starlit Sky
Dear friend,
The Christmas roses are drooping so that they appear to be taking in the room for the first time, as if they were so intent before on the sky that they’ve only just realised where the cutting of their stems has led them.
Tomorrow, they will join the pile of withering plants in the back half of the garden. Back into the earth—something new will grow from them.
Dippa is reminding us so much of Santy that we’re both wondering if they did a deal.
I’ve felt that Zara sometimes lets Santy pay a visit.
The child mind in me can live happily with it being true and make-believe at the same time. The idea brings us comfort, but we’re not attached to it.
Things flow.
Imagine yourself to be at the centre of all that is.
Right where you are now, as your eyes meet these letters.
Behind you, backing you up, is all of the history of the universe—everything that’s ever happened so that you can be here, and we can share this moment. I can’t even tell you how tapping these keys makes the words appear on a screen, never mind how email reaches you.
Or the twists and turns of all of the lives that led us to this moment.
Looking up at a clear, starry sky, imagining a future where there is peace across the planet.
You make a decision to be peaceful, and then you work at it.
You don’t become perfect and serene.
You’re still the same conflicted you.
This won’t necessarily be the best year ever. How could it be?
Trouble must come into our lives in one form or another.
For me, it feels important to start 2025 with a clear vision for the months to come. Writing down goals and intentions is a powerful practice. It focuses your energy through storytelling to create new worlds in your mind.
Clean water and air.
Humans realising that we are all connected by invisible threads that go back to the beginning of time.
You have to be compassionate about it, though. I don’t believe that everyone should set goals. You might be in a phase where the energy isn’t in favour of it. Sometimes you just have to rest, step back, and go through whatever is coming up.
If you’ve not gotten into setting goals, then maybe you can commit to stepping back next time you get triggered—either by that nasty inner critic or your own criticism of another.
Sometimes what we see in others is something we’ve missed about ourselves. It could be another chance for forgiveness and self-acceptance.
You can’t go wrong with gratitude and compassion.
One step at a time.
The year is still ahead of us.
Like a field of fresh snow.
Till tomorrow
Love
Mikey
