Dear friend
Don’t go running away with your mind into the future as if it’s a place you’ll get to. You won’t. It’s really subtle because the future does matter on a conceptual level.
Thinking ahead into what might happen in the future and planning for it is important for obvious reasons.
Forming images of how you wish the future to be and imagining yourself in that future, in as much detail as you can muster, is visualisation. That’s powerful and essential.
Visiting the future in your mind is something to be done consciously. It’s more of a skill than anything else. Something to practice. A tool for living.
Worrying about the future is something we all do. It’s a rare person who doesn’t, and I am not one of them, nor have I met anyone who is immune to it. Just not to make it a habit. Don’t go off in your mind into a future where the bad stuff is happening and live there. Does worrying add to your safety, or is it more like a habit, something learned?
Come back to this moment.
Breathe.
Tie your wild mind to your breath.
Feel what is going on inside your body.
Build moments of stillness into your day.
Watch your thoughts as the world spins and dips and rises around you.
You are a centre in this universe.
Stay here.
Keep coming back.
Be.
In your body.
And if you can’t.
Because it’s too much.
Breathe.
Do that.
It will bring you home.
You are loved.
By a power greater than the human mind.
You are so much more than the mind can imagine.
Till tomorrow
Love
Mikey
