Dear Friend,
The coffee in my cup makes a perfect circle. As I carry it from the kitchen I’m careful not to spill it. The clock on the wall and the watch on my wrist. The earth herself, the sun and moon, the planets in our solar system.
The wheels that transport our bodies as we rush this way and that.
Circular.
No point running around in circles, trying to get someplace when we’re already here.
Our universe is perpetually in motion and it will do what it will do. We can accept this moment as it is, respond with compassion. Watching the show unfold.
Noticing our breath brings our attention to the fact of being in a physical body. It’s temporary, meaning ‘of time’. Feeling the sensations of touch. Listening to the symphony of all this movement.
Smelling the coffee.
Coming home to the body reduces the rushing of the mind. The mind races time, watches the clock, skips over this moment and predicts the next.
What if this universe was all out for you? A thought experiment. Reflective.
Forgiving others their shortcomings we see forgiveness reflecting back to us.
Search your mind for compassionate thoughts and see how it feels to live that way. Leave out no-one, especially yourself. People do what people do.
We have authority over one.
Just this one person hurtling through space, working it out.
If these writings are resonating with you, and you haven’t yet, Eckhart Tolle’s book ‘The Power of Now” might be a good choice, if you are looking for something new to read.
Or you could watch him here
Till Tomorrow
Love
