Dear Friend,
There’s a hunger that cannot be satisfied.
No matter how often we make love.
No matter how much we draw to ourselves in possessions and material wealth.
No matter how much power and influence we wield.
No matter how expertly we are entertained.
No matter how fervently we believe.
Scrolling through endless media, searching for something that will feed us.
Empty calories.
Only direct experience of our soul can satisfy this hunger.
We seek that which we are.
Which is found in stillness.
True friendship.
Makes itself known through sign posts.
Prose, poetry, nature, music, dance, art, silence.
Loving kindness.
Caring for one another.
Acts of generosity.
Discovering the source of lasting peace.
Where it has always been.
Just beneath the surface of things.
A light.
Waiting. Certain of the day we look within and recognising ourselves, find to our surprise we are home.
Just a short note this morning. It made itself known as I drifted off to sleep and dream’t of a house with many rooms.
The most direct way to experience our soul is to meditate regularly.
Swap meditation out for scrolling. Ten minutes is enough.
I recorded this guided meditation for you, in case you’d like to add it to your meditation practice or maybe start out from scratch.
If you’re totally new to meditation, before you listen, find a comfortable seated position. Perhaps with a comforting blanket over your knees. Give yourself ten minutes of peace and quiet and press play.
Not to be used when driving or where the physical world demands your conscious attention.
Here’s the audio.
