Dear Friend,
The last time my brother visited he brought some clothes he thought I’d like. I’m wearing a lovely tunic/shirt he gave me. The cotton feels nice and makes a rustling sound like dry Autumn leaves.
I’m missing Chiara a lot. It’s been a couple of weeks now. She’s with the Hungarian National Opera in Budapest.
The heat has come. Nothing too dramatic, but the plants all need a drink. I’ll water them before I go to work in the school. There are only a few days left to go of a job I’ve done for twenty years. It’s an odd feeling contemplating the closing of a personal era for me. There’s no hurry to get to the ‘finish line’, it will come soon enough.
I got to thinking about the world I know and the world I want to know. Choosing to change compared to having change forced upon you, or maybe it’s more of a combination of choosing and the natural evolution of consciousness. Energies are at play in all of our experiences, some we are conscious of, others not so much.
A key element to consciously chosen deliberate change, is to work up a picture in your mind of how you want things to be. Write it down. Draw it. Describe it in as much detail as you can, and mentally see yourself in the new reality.
When you notice any limiting beliefs rising up in your mind, take note of them. Don’t be scared of them. Becoming consciously aware of thoughts that might have been going on in the background, releases their energetic hold on you. It’s easier to move past stumbling blocks when you know where they are.
Changing our mental maps of the world can be fun, but it also takes courage and a degree of commitment to the process. Cultivating an open mind, maybe that’s another way to put it. How to keep an open mind?
Rather than judging situations, events and people, it helps to be curious about them. Developing our willingness to feel discomfort, helps us move out of what we’re familiar with into new territory.
Change is often not comfortable, it can be exciting and scary, and so change does require courage.
Imagine.
When we think we know the world, we’re really defining the limits of our own individual mental map. Outside of that map are worlds we do not know exist. Worlds that other people are living in right now.
Peaceful minds create a peaceful world.
It is possible.
How long does it take to change?
For an individual, it takes a moment of decision and a lifetime of exploration and effort. Cultures and species take longer, but no matter how long or instant the time frame, change is inevitable.
Just a little more openness every day to new ideas and perspectives can help us as we grow and change over time.
Earth is the place we come to learn about ourselves.
Change is natural.
So are growing pains.
Till tomorrow
Love
Mikey
